The Charlestown Christadelphians have been part of the local community for over 70 years. We are part of the wider Christadelphian fellowship, a worldwide community of Bible students, with more than 10,000 members in Australia. While each Christadelphian church is independent, we are united by a shared understanding of the Bible and by beliefs shaped through personal and collective study of Scripture.

We believe Jesus is the Son of God, sent to fulfil God’s promises and covenants, especially those made with Eve, Abraham and David. He was truly human, tempted as we are, yet without sin. After his death, God raised him to eternal life, and he now waits at His Father’s side until the time of his return.

We look forward to the resurrection and to the establishment of God’s kingdom on earth, centred in Jerusalem and extending throughout the world. In that kingdom, Israel, as the descendants of Abraham, has a special place.

We believe salvation comes through faith in Christ, expressed in baptism for the forgiveness of sins and in a life joined to him, with the hope of inheriting the earth forever.

Christadelphians also have a distinct understanding of Christ’s nature and sacrifice. We believe his death opens the way for forgiveness, not by removing all responsibility from us, but by calling us to follow him in faith, self denial and faithful obedience.

    • The Bible is God’s inspired word and the foundation for knowing Him, His purpose, and His will.

    • There is one true God, Creator of heaven and earth. The gospel is the good news of His coming Kingdom on earth, and of forgiveness through Jesus.

    • Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life, died as a sacrifice for sin, was raised from the dead, and will return to reign as King.

    • God’s promises to Abraham and David find their fulfilment in Jesus and in the coming Kingdom of God on earth. Israel, the Jewish people, and Jerusalem have an important place in that purpose.

    • Human beings are mortal and sinful. Death is the consequence of sin, and the Bible teaches that the dead are unconscious in the grave, awaiting resurrection.

    • Jesus will return to raise the dead, judge those responsible to him, and grant eternal life to the faithful in God’s Kingdom on earth.

    • The Holy Spirit is God’s power, not a separate person. Miraculous Spirit gifts were given for a time and are not active today in the same way.

    • The Bible’s language about the devil, satan, and demons is understood in relation to sin, opposition, and false religion, not as an all powerful evil being.

    • God calls people to repent, believe the gospel, and be baptised by full immersion into Christ.
